This could and this should be reality, but everyone keeps exceptions in mind. Equality isn’t the sharing of riches but the sharing of burdens. Everyone just knows they deserve more than others, but who seriously deserves less life and liberty than you? Sharing luxury does nothing to undo the entrapment, extortion and exploitation fundamental to aggregating that wealth’s existence. When you’re sharing in a society’s rewards but never its blames or burdens you share nothing, only taking away from its resources and opportunities. Every star in the heavens ultimately burns out and destroys all in its orbit. Every personality cult in world history ends the same. But you and/or your icons are the special exception, deserving the role of centerpiece for all that ever was and all that ever will be to cater. When there are people who survive with nothing, how do you justify your excesses as necessary for your own and still consider yourself a good person? You’re not, as the only thing trickling down in this culture is ego. Faith in a higher power means you have to wait for the other shoe to drop before you can lift your face from the curb.
If an inconvenience or a differing opinion is a threat to your well-being, you are not nearly as high and mighty as your fan-fictions articulate; and if you are not left absolutely humbled before the errors of creation you are a verifiable ass. Nobody anywhere is truly owed love or cruelty even if every fascist ever to have walked the Earth felt differently. Being discerning allows love or cruelty to have meaning, and it allows ourselves frankness in all our dealings, as opposed to forcing everyone into cookie cutters. God is incapable of not doing harm, but theoretically humans can be better than that. All it takes is to see how utterly meaningless are likes and dislikes whether to or fro, rather than imposing them under penalty of death and taxes.
