A countrywide peoples proven unwilling and incapable of personal responsibility want a government of the people to magically be responsible.
After the war, the thousand or so USA military bases and installations outside our borders could all be remodeled into theme parks, owned and operated by regional communities themselves. The hundreds of domestic bases could be turned into homeless shelters. owned and operated by regional communities themselves. Factories for restoring peoples.
But patriotism would have to change its own definition away from an eagerness to see fellows needlessly suffer and die. No symbology can be regarded as more important than life itself, no matter the life. Flags are no less damaging or sadomasochistic than borders. No man could punch their way through a mountain, yet the mountain itself does nothing to limit the strength of anybody. What sort of superiority or supremacy requires inferiors, even for self-defining contrast? I think throughout recorded history, the people who did the most good for humanity were on some level believers of nothing, rather they refused to believe others deserved lesser resources or opportunities than themselves.
We’re never citizens, only indentured servants to benefit the most self-serving among us, egos only genuflecting before greater egos. Fail to be the codependent’s worker or consumer, test subject or human shield, and they entitle themselves to drop all pretense of your basic human rights. If I fail to sacrifice for your esteem, then I cease to exist.
No life is worth less than my own. That kind of thinking does not cause problems. In fact it solves many. It leads to the creation of schools and hospitals, it builds cities. Most Americans I’ve seen in action, across the country and my modest decades, are offended by prospects of whichever competing subset within their own populace having more than themselves. I’d never advocate such a thing. I’m saying nobody anywhere deserves less than you. And I see an unvoiced problem underlying so much today, how so many can so easily justify exceptions for particular lives not being saved, but also for disallowing others from saving those lives. Whether it’s a homeless person or brown person or trans or fetus. We could theoretically remove living embryos faster and safer than dead ones, and with no lingering strings attached financially or legally. We could construct those resources and networks. But both sides of that debate fight for the right to wear blood on their own hands.
When everybody allows exceptions to saving life, not one of you is a good guy. With so much unnecessary death by hardship, do believers really think St Peter has time for each and every teller of a sob story justifying sacrifices made by anybody but themselves? Your life is not actually saved by streaming the Sandman. No matter how compelling the thoughts or feelings gone into art, they do not seriously create or destroy lives. Nobody truly dies from lack of love or comforting appeasement. You don’t “deserve” entertainment more than others deserve to eat. And no devil causes you to part with mankind.
You do not have to love any person, place or thing to be a good person. If every firefighter had to agree with your politics and religion and playlist you would be fucked. Only ego says otherwise. But that is no ethical or moral rationale for others to have less life, liberty or pursuits of happiness than you yourself. Every complication we’ll ever experience comes from some ego’s rationale. Egos aren’t the ones starving for food or attention, they’re Bogarting sustenance. You could take your monthly streaming fees and buy a coat for someone who desperately needs it, but those problems always being someone else’s concern are why those problems never move on. So, America is a pile of shit because Americans are shits. Maybe equality means blame and credit for all things belong hand in hand.
As problems are born in not helping others, then problem-solving is giving them aid whether anybody likes it or not.
