To Nuke a Mockingbird

I object to any person, place or thing ever taking blame for whatever I say or do; and I object to any person, place or thing ever taking credit for whatever I say or do. Principles and convictions don’t have to be fair-weather. I mean, Americans only ever self-sacrificing when convenient, and even then quite half-assed about it, is kind of why so many of the more obviously dangerous fantasies go enabled. They don’t have to live with contradictions, they just choose to. Maybe we should only read tea leaves for the articles.

People give the government more chances than their ex, when at least the ex could do that one thing.

Pinning blame for gun violence on whichever subset of gun-enthusiasts comes across as akin to kids bickering in the backseat, it has no effect whatsoever on where we are or where we are going. Cowards just need to stop stressing that there may be people out there as crazy as themselves. Talk your neighbors into dismantling their guns and scrapping that metal so we can reinforce the gated communities to prevent anymore escapes, especially by persons with nuclear capacity at their disposal. If power corrupts then none must have it, and that includes access to weapons designed for nothing else. Nobody’s insecurities matter more than the life of anyone anywhere.

Nonetheless, if we can’t blame the guns, then the leading cause of death among kids in the #USA are the gun-owners themselves. And it is a widespread egomania, to think whatever prompts them to stock up could ever possibly be worse than the real harm their lot are inflicting. Gun-owners seem to know that gun-owners are crazy, so they feel the only way they can protect themselves is by owning guns. That is a closed loop, a chain-gang of mindless self-destruction. Be a bucket brigade instead, at least there’s a chance for wet t-shirts. The one necessarily fundamental thing for a civilization to exist is for all parties to refrain from killing one another. Lethal force is only justifiable by fascists, even if we choose to see them as mostly harmless primadonnas. Of course people will still murder each other with or without guns, but it is not the responsibility of government or industry to make that any easier. It is in fact the absence of responsibility.

Democracy is rare on the world stage because the personal responsibility to fuel it is rare. All those dreaming that guns save lives, that government saves lives and that art saves lives, your dreams are not solving any actual problems outside your comfort zone. Recorded history shows that waiting for daddy to come fix the big stuff is hysteria. But you can talk to your local gun-owners in person, show them how climbing the clock-tower to fire one up is so much funner than climbing it to fire away. You can make sure the homes on your street with kids in tow have enough food too, even if it takes up all your comic book money for the month. Nothing is stopping you from being a good person. You don’t require permission from anyone or anything, not if self-determination means more than an idea. This culture has made suicide being a felony some permissible thing, for it deprives the system of workers, consumers and tax-payers. How does that fail to correlate the same when applied toward all those we love least? If you really love your country, why so casually condemn so many to a life with lesser resources and lesser opportunities than yourself, one where anyone lacking your love is empowered over life and death? What do you think the country is? Eventually, all that’ll be left are some binding ties from the family tree, and though incest may’ve been good enough for god’s chosen survivors of Sodom and Gomorrah, it could and should be avoided.

Heroism isn’t about sacrificing the other guy, that’s just cowardice toward the world making enemies of innocent bystanders. Solve problems, don’t create them. America’s one and only contribution to the world was to manufacture a problem that cannot be fixed, and it is paying the price in real-time. We were filmed before a live studio audience. End credits. Rest of the world, take note: stop with the fed egos and indulging of fantasy or you too can America!
