Earthen scientists have caught wind of a possibly habitable planet within our lifetimes, and if its denizens prove unable or unwilling to buy and sell for the flattery of our least self-sacrificing, then they will be nuked to higher heaven, with science-fictional rape and pillage to engender the next generation’s self-appointed owners of stockpiled resources founded through lying, cheating and stealing or their inheritors, with that much more bondage and discipline, bemusement and disingenuity. It is already becoming a societal thing, producing Eco-friendly bio-gas from dead fish and powering neighborhoods with batteries generated by decomposing human remains. When the Pentagon, the same Pentagon playing with wrecked alien vessels for umpteen years, declares its want for autonomous ships, choppers and jets in addition to self-driving cars, we must think of this. When tax-dodging tech industrialists trading government contracts for back-channels can rewrite the laws of the land, for producing a blockchain smart city as though feudalism’s fiefdoms and cotton plantations had not always left libertarian politics at the door for private meetings with capital, we must think of this. When fashion and trends do nothing to promote livelihoods or well-being, we must think of this, and when companies copyright wearable tech intended to entrap and exploit the living bodies of consumers in order to connect with and fuel the artificial products and services which you have been made dependent upon for your livelihoods and well-being, you must stop thinking and start recording your final wishes.
These celebrated authorities do not even know their own planet. Our individual survival is in spite of their best efforts. The obsessive-compulsive, undivided attentions given to immediate gratification leave all other matters vulnerable to incompetence.
