Swaddling Iconography

In recent weeks, discussions and inflammatory arguments have blossomed online for and against usage of NFTs, purely symbolic items already digitally reproduced. Those in favor seem to be asserting a right to profit in spite of nothing tangible, original or unique exchanging hands. Sensible voices made the comparison to the “name a star” silliness from years past, paying for a deed which earnestly means nothing whatsoever. Those opposed are outraged largely at the environmental costs the blockchains require for distribution’s demand, themselves unironically having already declared the energy-consuming digital social networks where these arguments occur as necessary evils, when there is decidedly nothing necessary about any of it.

Contrary to America’s proclaimed exceptionalism, buying or selling, entertaining or being entertained are all forms of codependency. And would one manage to refrain from and castigate such pursuits wherever conceivable, then that soul in turn is reproofed and castigated by Americans at large, who at the end of the day simply cannot wrap their heads around quantifiable independence. Moreover, the trick of ego’s enthrall is willful self-hypnosis, popularly confronting deigned evils under the arrogant misconception that the very same means and methods will magically lead oneself anywhere but.

Meanwhile, long ago in galaxies far, far away, something vast and invisible is either blocking out stars from our point of view, or absorbing them altogether.

Governmental officials are openly warning that details from the impending federal releases of UFO-related weirdness, declassified but with large portions unarguably redacted still, some bits rewritten after the fact as are the results to any Freedom Of Information Request, will be difficult to explain. Obviously, when USA military expenditures black budgets and all astronomically exceed the budgets of virtually all other militaries of the world combined, the prospects of unidentified aerial phenomenon existing which are not ultimately USA government-issued, subcontracted or not, prove a curious affair. And while it’s far more likely that certain agencies have no idea what exactly other agencies are doing with their time and resources, the chances of them originating under the sanctions of any other government are extraordinarily doubtful, with lesser resources clearly not accomplishing what pillaged resources fail to make manifest.

I see any actual disclosure as a confession of weakness, or at least an admission of incapacity. I think the government knows full well that if they did not produce these phenomena, and if governments not so obsessed with military expansion also did not produce these phenomena, then something unknown this way comes. So I look to the pending releases, if they are indeed anything other than a distraction for useful idiots, as a call for crowdsourcing their origins. Maybe, by making public anything substantial, they hope to learn that if the UFOs are not in actuality top secret experiential craft like drones of tomorrow, they are still privatized equivalents, like real world variations of the Avengers quinjet or Fantastic Four fantasticar flown by enterprising tax-evaders. Perhaps some pocket of ayahuasca freaks have been busily projecting their consciousnesses, out of body experiences unveiled as high-flying bursts of crystalline playing tricks with light and shadow and whichever other measuring posts our senses rely upon, advancements in radar technology proving more able of capturing and recording trace elements of their passing misadventures. The small fact of this government changing its own nomenclature, from unidentified flying objects to unidentified aerial phenomenon, suggests these events may not actually involve physical vessels at all. The status quo of governance is to deny the existence of self-doubt, of self-incrimination, while the status quo of proper society is to deny everything unflattering toward proper society. So that if a thing is not already openly addressed, and with self-gratifying application, then it either somehow does not matter or must be regarded as some malicious lie, whether it’s a detail from widely-recognized history or an opinion felt by large numbers today, or a documented contrivance of what we purport to know about the universe.

The best parts will very likely remain withheld, but for anything to be released would be to fan the anti-establishment flames, a moment of kindness inviting mockery of god-king Uncle Sam pulling a 180 to disclose reality of something beyond even his overreach, beyond his limited grasp. Unless, in keeping with the likelihood that strange visitors from elsewhere in space or elsewhere in time or none of the above notwithstanding, disclosure actually is to distract from something far more demonstrably nefarious right here and right now.

A thing vast and invisible, blocking out our points of view.

The reality is an interesting contrast, between the unrealized selfishness of fantasies for resurrection and immortality, and what plenitudes of waste keepers of humanity leave in their wake. We should interpret something as sublime as the tooth fairy’s tale as a metaphor for the infantile toothlessness of the monied, in that they are not merely unwilling to do for themselves but are pointedly unable. They eat well in fine homes by imposing responsibilities onto hapless others to do the building, the cooking and cleaning on their behalf. The mentality behind kid clubhouses devolved perpetually into all-new, all-different gated communities, efforts toward utopia are rendered private and because they are privatized they invariably prove short-lived. Without sacrifices of misguided adults in the room, workers and customers, taxpayers and soldiers, they have no capacity unto themselves, can create or accomplish nothing on their own. Capital was established exclusively by and for those who cannot provide for themselves and who cannot contribute to the rest. Of course those claiming ownership of all capital require the masses to fill in the extraterrestrial blanks as well.

It happens over and over and over again, these arguments concerning the nothingness of all hopes and dreams.
