Why would a defunct corporation which exploited digital systems for military-grade psychological warfare to manipulate dozens of elections around the planet across two decades, for profit, suddenly refurbish its website? *Who* profits from whichever digital tomfoolery says everything about after the fact legalities. SCL Group’s business model was to wreck elections globally, their only punishment a soft rebranding. Even the wikipedia entry still links to a wayback machine grab of a year ago, for what used to be. Everything owners of TikTok and WeChat are accused of doing, everything the Russian gov is accused of doing to western elections, was committed by SCL Group a thousandfold here and abroad. Zuck sent proxies to most requisite governmental committees inquiring, paid a token fine and slid.
Considering the unrelated HUD lawsuit against FB, the controls cited which were sold to third parties weren’t about data-mining but rather enabled *manipulation of user experiences*. Imagine these same points in the link applied to political partisanship. This isn’t even a #conspiracy but nobody wants to see it. The more destabilized our communities, the more the purported existence for law enforcement validates itself. As with cars requiring constant maintenance and computers requiring constant updates/upgrades, therapy ongoing without cure, a job well done means no repeat business. The socially-conscious artist or entertainer is someone who admits the world has more important concerns but who wants its attention nonetheless.
